The family is a unit of community and a string family makes a strong community. A nation constituted of such strong communities becomes a power to reckon with. The strenght is measured in terms of the bond of love, respect and understanding among members of the family along with their inner maturity. Material wealth without such a string spiritual base is of little value - Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda

The book "For the Family" was launched on May 8th 2009 on the 93rd birth anniversary of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of Chinmaya Mission.

At a time when parents just spend an hour with their children, this book would definitely be a learning guide to them assured Swami Swaroopananda. The quiz is designed specially for families so that they can live, learn, grow together, come together and spend some quality time together. Various issues relating to families are also discussed in it. Says Swami Swaroopananda at the occasion, "Family oneness is highly important and it is declining day by day. Today two people living together claim that theirs is a family. This book would definitely change that idea, making this place a better one."

With the registration fee of just Rs.100, families will have verbal assessments, written assessments and exciting games as part of their tasks. The Grand Prize for the winners will be prize money of Rupees One Lakh and an all expense paid trip to the Himalayas. Says Swami Mitrananda, "A quiz is the only attempt and method to bring about and instill oneness and unity in them." Speaking on the same lines, GRK Reddy also said that the book will be an ultimate guide for four generations to sit and discuss together. "Gather the family together and we stand as one family!"

The Family Quiz - An Insight

We two, ours two’ is a slogan that has long gone out of fashion. ‘We two, ours one’ is the new mantra for the families today. In today’s fast-paced life, it is becoming increasingly difficult for parents and children to spend quality time together and bond as a family. The time, when children would sit in the lap of their grandparents and hear stories, is long lost. Uncles & aunts, nephews & niece, maternal & paternal relations coming together has become a rare occasion. The definition of family dynamics has changed drastically over the years.

In Chennai Family Quiz, whose chief sponsor is MARG Limited, a family consists of seven members. Now, we finally have a reason to engage our extended family! It is not just about bringing all family members together but intellectually and emotionally engaging them in a productive activity. To add to the excitement the final rounds of this quiz will be interactive sessions and games. The Quiz will be bringing together over 1 lakh families i.e. 7 lakh members over a span of three months in the year 2010.

The Family Quiz book titled ‘For the Family’, contains anecdotes covering various topics like relationships, health, management etc. and will be given to the participating families free of cost on registration.
